Closing The Gap ιn ICT

Rationale of this project, Needs and Objectives

Why don't we have a stronger use of ICT and e-learning to improve our education? One reason is the gap in ICT knowledge between the teachers and between students, also between teachers and students.

The project works on strategies to close this gap and improve ICT teaching. This improvement will be achieved through the optimization of e-learning.

As a result we create many courses as OER content which can be used by every school. We try to address many different topics which are in general useful like Math,English as well as tools for analysing general social or personal aspects (e.g. racism or drop out of school).

Because of this we created a team with many schools form different countries. That is our basis to include different approaches from different countries and cultures to our topics. A larger team guarantee a result in quantity and quality.

Closing the gap can only be successful if we address many colleagues with our topics and methods.

Implementing an international team raise the attention and increase the acceptance for the usage of e-learning tools.

With the integration of these tools in our daily work our education will be more valuable and improves the learning quality.

Project Innovation -Complementarity to other projects .

In one way we are continuing our work from the previous projects. Therefore we have included former partners of our last projects.

The aim in the last project was to optimize the learning surrounding for students followed by creating e-learning applications and in this project we want to establish methods and workspace to involve more teachers.

In the other way our approach is innovative because we include the methods with strong usage of tutoring system for closing the ICT knowledge gap between teachers and teachers as well as between students and students. Exemplary this is given in our project structure in which we want to close the ICT knowledge gap between the partners. Additionally we continuously evaluate and

directly improve our methods during our project meetings. In this process teachers and students work closely together.

We also focus on peer to peer education. To underline this focus we organize one meeting special for peer to peer education.

For spreading this knowledge with other European schools with the mentioned interactive approach, we will establish an European  cooperation between school partners.

Project partners experiences and competences

General setup of our partners:

Germany -> organization, OER dissemination

Sweden -> elearning experience outside moodle

Romania -> administration of our common moodle platform (accounts, design, ...)

Bulgaria -> structuring our elearning courses for moodle

Greece -> administration of etwinning and organizing the content

Turkey -> evaluating and improving our content related to tablet and whiteboard usage

Poland, Italy and Lithuania -> evaluating and improving our pear to pear content

The structure of the participating schools correspond with structure we find in every school. There is a gap between teachers in school (experienced /less experienced) which we also have in our project.

In this structure we are able to test and evaluate activities which we optimize during our project and which we can transfer afterwards to our daily school life.

We can benefit from different needs and special knowledge with a larger number of partners. With a total of nine schools we also get valid results.

Topics
